The Lady

The Lady

The Lady

As I said, married men make easy targets. They also give the girls a chance at competition and a reason to not let their looks go once they do get hitched.

Finding a man in this town is one thing, keeping him is something else.

Debbie has left the girls and come back up to the bar. Telling Paul off in front of Magnolia didn't make her feel any better. In fact, she seems to be sinking into depression. An act of defiance and brazen words can often mask misery.

She'll live with that hurt until she finds someone new to make her feel special. She silently slides on the stool next to Jerry. She doesn't acknowledge him.

Paul and Magnolia leave arm in arm, sneering at Debbie as they exit.

I'm just glad she didn't see them leaving.

Ole Jerry is none the better after four pickled eggs. I'd serve him food if he wanted a menu. No, all he does is signal me for another brew and another egg.

Might as well cut the trips in half, I give him two more eggs.

The Train

Four inch high heels and a leather mini skirt
The boys think she’s crazy but the lady loves a fast flirt

She’s all of 35 don’t look a day over 43
She’s workin’ overtime selling
What no man wants to try for free

The woman thinks it’s sensual to show up in tight jeans
With her pancake stackin’ high she’s ready for a cheap scene

She’s all of 35 don’t look a day over 43
She’s workin’ overtime selling
What no man wants to try for free

spoken

There’s no water in this well tonight
It’s already gone bone dry

chorus

She’s just a victim in her own world of fantasy
The shallow sphere she’s living in
With sunshine everlasting
And a pack of loving men

A pack of steady loving men

Now she ain’t coming up a winner
And her dreams are growing cold
As she picks out tonight’s TV dinner
Shakes what she thinks broke the mold

A public dreamer growing old

end chorus

Dark glasses hide a wild roving eye
Another guy becomes her victim with a fast feel on the street side

She’s all of 45 don’t look a day over 63
She’s workin’ overtime selling
What no man wants to try for free

The lady’s doing well living way beyond her means
She might feel the pain tomorrow but tonight’s another bed scene

She’s all of 45 don’t look a day over 63
She’s workin’ overtime selling
What no man wants to try for free

chorus
