Jenny Anything

Jenny Anything

Jenny Anything

Jenny had a hard life. Nothing came easily to her. Nothing good ever came without exacting a price.

I think about Rachel. Of all people to mourn Jenny's demise, her tears will be the most profound.

Ruth and I have sat up at Charlie's bedside all night. He never has regained conciousness. That may be a blessing, his body was ravaged in the accident.

Jerry still has not been located. Sheriff Green with his deputies Donnie Everhart and Jimmy Taylor has been searching throughout the night. Green has now sent Everhart to fetch St. Peter.

Jenny's services will be held Saturday.

She has no family to notify.

In St. George's, I privately mourn Jenny's passage. Life here won't be the same now. The bar that had brought such joy and satisfaction now was bringing me agony.

I glimpse the old jukebox in the back corner. It's so old and worn. It plays only 45's. I should have replaced it long ago with a new CD player. But each song reminds me of a place, a time, a person... Jenny.

I look into the mirror only to see a face I don't recognize staring back at me. Like the jukebox, I still serve my purpose, but I too have grown old...

Jukebox Of You

spoken intro

I called her "Jenny Anything" and anything was possible...
Anything could happen... though good things seldom did

end spoken

chorus

If I remember just one thing
I'll remember hearing Jenny sing
Touching voice from time gone by
Fading angelic into a moonless sky

end chorus

She set up camp in the local bar
Wounded in battle, she lost the war
Held down the fort when times grew rough
Jenny’s smile wasn't defense enough

Sold her soul when the rent came due
Jenny did anything she had to do
Times were tough and money's short
Life sent a payment she had to abort

chorus

Jenny walked the streets downtown
A lonely place for a soul to drown
Under the bridge at the overpass
This time the bottle won't meet the glass

An Alpine box they call her home
Under a placard that is carved in stone
Jenny found a place to fill her needs
Now she has no want of any thing

chorus

If I remember just one thing
I'll remember hearing Jenny sing
Touching voice from time gone by
Fading angelic into a moonless sky

If I remember just one thing
I’ll remember Jenny Anything...

If I remember just one thing
I’ll remember Jenny Anything...
